Ravenna is also know for it's Street Art festival
These are just a few of the pieces that I happened to notice during our afternoon break from the bus
Some of the following were so small and in such weird locations that I almost missed them
I suspect that the other tourists thought me a little mad...

Famous pieces...done underwater (?) from Blub the artist

This piece was 4 " x 6 "
On the base of an office building

Of this series...
This is my favorite...

On a metal door in an alley way

I love this plant display and art installation

Fancy iron work over typical window architecture
of this region

More fantastic iron work, this time on a balcony

Welcome to the City of Ravenna
Known for it's Byzantine Mosaics
From the 5th Century A.D
&
For the city centre that doesn't allow vehicles
Our kind of place

Some of the lovely buildings of Ravenna
I love the brick color that is used throughout the town
This is a multi bell tower
The bell songs that ring out...Amazing!

Here comes the rain...

Were are off the beaten trail...deep within the 'city'
Let's hold out here until the storm passes

14 February 2020

I am hoping that some or one of these photos will work
on mom's wall
Side street/canal

Tree lined park
Residential part of the village

Please notice the bell tower...yes you are correct....
it is starting to lean
Remember this village has the same issue as Venice...if built on a solid foundation then there is no problem
The boat that we came on would not drive by the most likely direction this tower will fall
"no point in taking any chances!" according to the captain

Balcony and shutters...
I loved the top of the building

These windows have been bricked up in order to give more support to the building

The main promenade of Burano
Where most of the tourists got away from the down pour...
under the awnings

7 February 2020

We decided to do an extra excursion out to Burano Island.
Known for it's colorful houses and boats.
On the way there we passed this abandoned monastery
Abandoned due to the fact that half the island has disappeared into the
lagoon

Looking out at the storm that was tracking us from Venice

Looking towards Burano and the empty streets.
The locals have enough sense to go inside and wait for the rain
