I believe this is the main pool
The stone stacks held up the floor and the hot water
was poured between. 
Like in floor heating

This is a four person 'hot tub'
The water would come via an aqueduct
thru the hole

The metal grates allow tourists to walk without injury 
over the raised sections of stones.
If you look farther up the picture you will notice more
of these stones.
This street did not allow carts.
It was a pedestrian only market
