On our way back to the bus we came across a number of boats
being fixed...

Peoples homes

Fisherman getting their nets ready, late evening fishing is quite popular
You couldn't pay me enough to be standing in that water

Their church and town hall (rear)

Another view of the church with solar panels (makes sense)

Tourist trap (where we were heading)
Small gift store, restaurant (oh darn we already ate) and Crocodile farm
Yes you read that correctly, I said crocodiles I didn't ask I will only assume that these poor creatures are raised for food

WELCOME to the Floating Village
I think they may have had a sale on blue paint...
I have no idea what type of building this is

This however is the school

This is the grocery store

Can you see the spray coming off the back of the boat?
That's because the motor was sitting just below the water's surface
That way the motor doesn't get stuck

As I didn't get a picture of our boat from the front I took a picture of the one that
was about to pass us

Not super fancy or anything and ridiculously loud

After lunch we travelled by little bus to the shores of Tonle Sap. Which literally means large river (tonle) fresh, not salty (sap) 'This region refers to a seasonally inundated freshwater lake and the 120 km long Tonle Sap river that eventually connects to the Mekong River in Viet Nam' It is known for the floating fishing village, the Prek Toal bird sanctuary (which we did not see) and unfortunately the Tonle Sap massacre (1993). Which I didn't know about until we got home, thankfully. What I did know about is the fishing village and am excited to share those pictures with you. As we were there at the end of the dry season the water is VERY low...our boat almost got stuck. This is not the kind of water that I would ever want to go into. I'm glad that our boat captain was able to get us out of the muck...please enjoy the following photos
