I love the brick color that is used throughout the town

This is a multi bell tower

The bell songs that ring out...Amazing!

Here comes the rain...

Were are off the beaten trail...deep within the 'city'

Let's hold out here until the storm passes

Please notice the bell tower...yes you are correct....

it is starting to lean

Remember this village has the same issue as Venice...if built on a solid foundation then there is no problem

The boat that we came on would not drive by the most likely direction this tower will fall

"no point in taking any chances!" according to the captain

The main promenade of Burano

Where most of the tourists got away from the down pour...

We decided to do an extra excursion out to Burano Island.

Known for it's colorful houses and boats.

On the way there we passed this abandoned monastery

Abandoned due to the fact that half the island has disappeared into the 

lagoon 

Looking out at the storm that was tracking us from Venice

The locals have enough sense to go inside and wait for the rain

Hand made masks, ready to celebrate

An annual festival that has been fraught with controversy

since it began in 1162

Originally masks were made of leather, porcelain or glass

It is said that the lower class peasants would wear the masks to 'blend' into high class society

Even if only for a week or two
